#projecteducate Community Week Leaders & Participant Guide
Hello Everyone,
Have you ever wondered how #projecteducate brings the deviantART Community together for Community Week(s)? I sure hope you said yes
Step 1: Getting in Contact with the Community
A Community Week can have the best leaders and organization ever. However, without any actual participants it would certainly turn out to be pretty sad. Thus, the first step always has to be getting in contact with the deviantART Community and inform as many deviants as possible of this wonderful chance to make a little difference and then of course hoping that some will step up and want to be a part of it. In general it doesn't fail because of lack of interest though, that's for sure.
Once interested deviants have contacted (via note) both Community Week Leaders it's time to take a closer look at their ideas, to define them and see which ones are fitting for a Community Week. As amazing as most ideas usually are, not all of them will be appropriate for this kind of event since - as the group name suggests - they should in some way include an educational element. Very often ideas that don't seem like they qualify can be adjusted though, so if you are ever unsure if your own ideas are good enough, never hesitate to propose them anyway. Your Community Week Leaders are always happy to give a few pointers on how to make the article as successful and educational as possible without actually interfering with your own creativity.
Step 3: Setting up a Schedule
Community Weeks are a monthly event, with certain weeks scheduled for it in advance but just knowing when the week starts and ends isn't quite enough yet. A defined schedule that shows on what day which deviant posts their article or hosts their event is crucial to avoid articles clashing and drowning each other out. This schedule is situated in a forum post in the group's admin area which contains general information about the week and a division in two slots per day, which can be claimed by the participants. While the default rule is one slot per deviant this can be adjusted depending on demand.
Step 4: Sta.sh Drafts
Adding Sta.sh drafts to the schedule is very important since it helps make the most out of each article and lets the Community Week Leaders check up if things are going well. Accepting a little help, even just for a spell check, certainly isn't a shame and will only make your article look even better once published.
Step 5: Communication, Communication, Communication
As in so many areas in life, communication is of very big importance; not just in the beginning of the week to discuss possible contribution but throughout the entire time leading up to the week and also during the week itself. If participants have any concerns or doubts they are always highly encouraged to voice them either on the schedule or via note (to both Community Week Leaders) so problems can be solved as quickly and efficiently as possible. Additionally, the Community Week Leaders as well should be doing regular check ups on participants, especially first time ones, to ensure that things are going smoothly and no one has encountered problems but isn't sure if it's alright to ask for help. Which it of course always is.
